What are allergies?
An allergy is caused by a person's reaction to environmental molecules or particles known as ‘allergens’. Allergens are present all around us, but they do not affect everyone in the same way. They can be found in house dust mites, pollen, insects, food, medication, etc.
The immune system causes inflammation, leading to a variety of symptoms:
asthma
hives
rhinitis
eczema
swelling
...
They can affect various parts of the body, including the nose, eyes, lungs and skin. While allergies are often harmless, some are fatal and require emergency treatment.
What is pulmonology?
This area of medicine enables us to understand and treat conditions or diseases related to the respiratory system and its functions.
The most common disorders are pneumonia, asthma, emphysema, and anxiety or panic attacks. A pulmonologist is a trained specialist who diagnoses respiratory ailments and treats them using a variety of tools and physical tests, each tailored to specific situations for effectiveness.
